Buckeye Career Center is happy to celebrate Mr. Frank Polen, who was named the 2025 Tuscarawas County Chamber of Commerce Volunteer of the Year! Several of our administrators attended last evening's ceremony to honor Frank and the other awardees! Mr. Polen serves as BCC's director of curriculum, instruction, & adult education, but spends countless hours volunteering for the chamber and other organizations within our area! #BuckeyeProud!

From practice to perfection! Cosmetology students put their skills to the test as they master manicure techniques for state boards.

Hands-on learning in action! Level one Electrical Systems Technology students build and reconfigure electrical training boards to practice wiring, circuit connections, and switch operation.

We had the pleasure of welcoming Jason Hall, Superintendent of Dover Light & Power, who spoke with a few of our labs this morning about the work Dover Light & Power does and its role in the community.

January's Adult Education Student of the Month is Esthetics student Crimzen Christmas. Crimzen resides in Coshocton and is a graduate of Newcomerstown High School and attended BCC. Crimzen is an independent provider for Coshocton County and volunteers for the Coshocton County Board of Developmental Disabilities. She is also a dance teacher at Studio 3 in Newcomerstown. Crimzen enrolled in the Esthetics program to earn her license so she can eventually own her own spa and be a traveling make up artist. Crimzen’s instructor, Ms. Larissa Seikel nominated her for the honor. “Crimzen is always friendly and willing to learn. I am excited to watch her grow in her career after graduation,” said Larissa. Crimzen is the daughter of Debbie and Corey Christmas.

Congrats to our second Student of the Month for January, Teaching Professions senior Bailey Winkhart. She attends BCC from Tusky Valley. Bailey is a member of BCC’s National Technical Honor Society and Tusky Valley’s National Honor Society. Bailey works at the New Phila Sheetz and is a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Mineral City. She was nominated by her instructor, Mrs. Melissa Long. “Bailey is a natural teacher and leader. Bailey is a direct communicator which leads to quick resolution of any issues that arise with others. She goes above and beyond in the classroom,” commented Long. Following graduation, Bailey plans to attend Kent State University and will major in middle childhood education with concentrations in math and social studies. Bailey is the daughter of Elizabeth Wilson and Chris Winkhart. She will be honored at this evening's Board of Education meeting!

Congrats to January Student of the Month, Robin Stevens! Robin is a double lab senior, enrolled in Electrical Systems Technology and Commercial Truck Technology. He attends BCC from New Philadelphia. He participates in SkillsUSA at BCC and works at Pit Stop Performance in New Phila. Robin was nominated by his Electrical instructor, Mr. Tim Septer. “Robin has distinguished himself through the remarkable ability to bridge the gap between theoretical concepts and practical application. He approaches every assignment as a complex puzzle requiring systemic analysis,” said Septer. Following graduation, Robin plans to attend the Universal Technical Institute in North Carolina and will enroll in the Auto Tech. and NASCAR program, lasting 63 weeks. Robin is the son of Rob and Christina Stevens. He will be recognized at this evening's Board of Education meeting. #BuckeyeProud!

Buckeye Career Center high school classes are cancelled for Tuesday, January 20, 2026 due to the cold temperatures. Adult Education morning classes will begin at 10am. Adult Education evening classes will operate as normal. The Buckeye Career Center Board of Education meeting will be held at 7pm in the BCC cafeteria, as planned.

Job of the Day: Ernest Warther Museum & Gardens
The Ernest Warther Museum & Gardens is seeking a landscape staff member with an interest in or background in landscaping to work in the gardens and arboretum. This is a paid position with hours that vary by season.

Duties include mulching, collecting sticks, hedge and tree trimming and care, weeding, planting, and general landscape maintenance. Experience with tools such as string trimmers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, mowers, and hand tools is helpful. Most work is completed independently, with occasional team projects.
