October’s Adult Education Student of the Month is Cosmetology student Liz Miller!
Miller, from Dover, is a Dover High School graduate and works at Gordon Milk Transport and Texas Roadhouse. Miller enrolled in the Cosmetology program to secure the cosmetology license she attempted to earn in high school. Plus, she was able to work in classes around her work schedule. Outside of work and school, Miller is a trustee at her church and a buddy for the Tuscarawas County Challenger’s baseball team. Her instructor, Mrs. Julie Menefee, nominated her for the honor. “Liz is a great student and is someone you can count on. She is a hard worker that cares and wants to do well,” commented Menefee. Miller plans to work in a salon once she graduates. #BuckeyeProud!

Our Welding students recently visited the Ironworkers Local 550 Training Center for some hands-on learning! Students had the opportunity to work in their welding booths, practice tying rebar, and explore other skills used in the ironworking industry. It was a great experience for our students to see how their welding skills can translate into future career opportunities!
Congratulations to our second high school Student of the Month for October, Masonry senior Bronsen Owens.
Owens attends BCC from Garaway, where he has played baseball for 12 years and football for 11 years. Outside of school, he works at Mill Street Diner. At BCC, he is involved in SkillsUSA and is a Buckeye Ambassador. Owens’ Masonry instructor, Mr. Ryan Irwin, nominated him for the honor. “Bronsen is a leader of the class. He is empathetic, listens to his peers, and assists them with class projects. He works hard at the Buckeye House and is always helpful,” said Irwin. Upon graduation, Owens plans to continue working at his family’s restaurant while also entering the concrete business. He is the son of Ray and Jessie Owens. He will be recognized at this evening's BCC Board of Education meeting. #BuckeyeProud!

Hathaway is enrolled in Welding and Precision Machining. She attends BCC from Tusky Valley. At Tusky Valley, Hathaway enjoyed art class and is a member of SkillsUSA at BCC. Outside of school, she volunteers at the Atwood Fall Festival and with the Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department for special events. Hathaway was nominated for the honor by her Precision Machining instructor, Mr. Bob LaFollette. “Bailey is an exceptional student in lab. She has the drive to learn and is eager to help when needed. She listens to instructions and has great work ethic,” said LaFollette. Following graduation, she hopes to become an underwater welder or work at Ohio Gratings or Eleet Cryogenics. Hathaway is the daughter of Randy Hathaway, Jr and Amy Hess. She will be recognized at this evening's Board of Education meeting! #BuckeyeProud!

At BCC, we host several community events outside of our regular school day. This past weekend, we welcomed the Dover and New Phila Rotary clubs for the annual Sportsmanship Breakfast. Our cafeteria staff prepared a wonderful meal for the attendees. Thank you to this crew for providing the meal! Join us for Buckeye Career Center's Fall Open House on Thursday, November 5th, from 5:30–7:30 PM! Tour the building, explore our programs, speak with staff, and enjoy a complimentary meal. Applications for the 2027–28 school year will open at 5:30 PM that evening. A special informational meeting for digital and homeschooled students will also take place at 6:15 PM.
