Pancakes

New Philadelphia, OH (March 27, 2025) – Over 767 Buckeye Career Center (BCC) guests and students enjoyed BCC’s annual Pancakes with Parents event on Wednesday, March 26, 2025. This year’s event total tops the previous record of 752 attendees served in 2023. The event invites family members to enjoy a pancake breakfast with their student(s) before the school day. Parents are also invited to visit their students’ labs during the event.

“We are so happy with the response from our students and their families,” said BCC Superintendent Bob Alsept. “It has truly grown into a special event that is made possible by cooperation among all of our stakeholders. We love to open our doors, let people meet our employees, and view our facilities. This was a wonderful morning for all involved!"

BCC administrators and staff began preparing pancake batter and cooking pancakes at 5am, ahead of the 7:45am event, serving 767 plates of pancakes and sausage in a little over an hour. Attendee and parent, Mr. Nathan Mushrush, who serves as the New Philadelphia City Schools Food Service Director, complimented the event. The staff was smiling and very welcoming. It was nice to see all hands on deck, as I know how much energy and effort goes into an event like that.”

BCC would like to thank Kent State University at Tuscarawas for allowing guests to park in the Performing Arts Center parking lot during the event. BCC maintenance staff transported guests to and from the additional lot, and New Philadelphia Police provided traffic control in the area. Each family received a complimentary travel coffee mug and also had the chance to get a family photo taken by Business & Marketing students to commemorate the event. The over 1,500 pancakes were prepared by Superintendent Alsept, Director of Curriculum, Instruction, & Adult Education Mr. Frank Polen, and Principal Matt Fockler. They were aided by Cafeteria Director Mrs. Phyllis Willison, the cafeteria staff, high school administrators, the BCC marketing team, and other support staff members.
